The first stage of the work has involved attention to the trees that surround the grassy area. Some that were either diseased or deemed inappropriate were felled and others had dead or dangerous branches removed.

We would disagree with the apparently arbitrary decision that Poplar & Cherry trees have no place on the new look Mall. About half a dozen have either been felled or stripped of their branches ready for the chainsaw. Surely it makes no difference if the species is a native to Ireland or not. The Mall is Armagh's town park not an arboretum where certain types of tree are deemed inappropriate.
